what is hosting?

To have your web site visible on the internet it needs to be on stored on a computer that is connected into the internet. This is referred to as a web server. We work in conjunction with a well respected hosting company which allows us to put your site on their servers. We configure the system so that your domain name points to the appropriate web server.

Working with our hosting company allows us to monitor and maintain the accounts. If you wish you can maintain your own domain using the standard cPanel interface.

annual costs

To host a web site requires space on the web server. This space is 'rented' from the hosting company and hence incurs an annual fee. See costs for pricing details

 

email

Part of the hosting package can include a number of POP3 email accounts linked to your domain name. e.g. if your domain name is www.yourname.co.uk then you can have any number of email addresses such as contact@yourname.co.uk. You can access your emails using normal clients such as Outlook Express or a via one of the internet based tools that come as standard as part of your hosting package.

The costing for emails depends on the number of accounts you require. The basic package comes with 5 email accounts as standard.
